Several Workers Injured at Steel Mill in Orange County

KFDM 6 News is reporting that several people were transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries following a late Tuesday morning incident involving a crane at a steel mill in Orange County.
It happened shortly after 10:00 at Optimus Steel, which is located just across the Neches River from downtown Beaumont.
Later reports coming out of the Golden Triangle said that the crane was moving a vehicle when it fell.
Optimus Steel released the following statement early Tuesday afternoon:
“Today we had an incident in a portion of our mill that was undergoing an upgrade. While the details are still under investigation, we can say that a small number of employees and contractors have suffered non-life threatening injuries and are being cared for onsite or at a local hospital. All employees and contractors have been accounted for. We will communicate updates as they become available.”
