Town of Many employees, Tony Jordan, Keaton Leach, and Suzanne Williams, helped Activities Director, Sharon Chance, and residents of Sabine Retirement and Rehab plant tomatoes, strawberries, and lavender this morning in their raised garden plot. Pansies and Snap Dragons survived the winter as did a few baby carrots that were harvested and eaten by everyone helping with today’s planting. A special pot with a variety of plants was prepared for the residents of the Alzheimer’s wing. Strawberry, tomato, and lavender plants were also delivered to Many Healthcare & Rehab for residents to plant in their garden. Wooden garden boxes were handmade by Johnny Rivers of the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office. Plants, potting soil, wood for the boxes, and garden tools were purchased with a United Way grant, which was extended for 2 years due to the COVID pandemic.
