Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office Officer Involved Shooting

On Monday, May 6, 2019, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) responded to an officer involved shooting in Converse. LSP AFO was requested to investigate the shooting by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office (SPSO).
The preliminary investigation revealed that the SPSO received a 911 call through their communications department of a stabbing at 1095 Fisherman Warf Road. Once the SPSO arrived, the deputy entered the residence and encountered Steven Edward Renois (W/M 32 yoa) of Converse. During the course of the interaction, the deputy discharged his weapon striking Renois.
The victim was transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport with minor/moderate injuries.
Renois was transported to DeSoto General with severe injuries and was later transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport.
The SPSO deputy was not injured in the incident and charges are pending.
The investigation remains active and ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
