A pursuit which began on Highway 190 near Dam B ended in Jasper late Saturday evening. It involved a Texas Parks & Wildlife State Park Police officer who was chasing an SUV.
The pursuit stopped on Marvin Hancock Drive in front of Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Late Monday afternoon, Texas Parks & Wildlife Captain Ben Herman spoke to KJAS News and he said that an investigation is continuing into the incident.
Herman said that an arrest was not made once the vehicle was stopped, and he could not release the reason why the officer was trying to stop the vehicle. Herman also said that he couldn’t release the name of the officer involved.
As for State Park Police working traffic on Highway 190, Herman said that is normal and officers do issue traffic citations.
