An early Saturday morning police pursuit involving a kidnapped woman began in Bullard, which is just south of Tyler, and ended about 70 miles later in Lufkin where the driver was taken into custody. Reportedly, the suspect, who was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima, reached speeds up to 100 miles-per-hour as he fled first from Bullard Police, and then other law enforcement agencies.
KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that 30-year-old Christopher Reshode Holmes, of Tyler, was arrested after the chase ended. He is accused of taking an unidentified woman against her will, and as the chase was underway she was using a cell phone to talk to a friend who was relaying information to 911 dispatchers.
The chase finally ended in Lufkin when officers used the “pit maneuver” to spin the car out of control. The woman then jumped out of the car when it stopped and she was uninjured.
The report said that Holmes is being charged with Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
