Police Believe Shooting Victim Hit in Firearm Accident

Few details are known, but KJAS News has confirmed through Jasper Police Lieutenant Garrett Foster that officers believe a shooting victim was struck by a bullet in an accidental discharge of a firearm.

Officers were sent to Jasper Memorial Hospital at about 4:30 Monday afternoon when staff there reported that a shooting victim had showed up at the emergency room.

No other information is known, including the identity of the victim, where the incident occurred, or the severity of the injury. KJAS News will followup on this story on Tuesday.
