Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with Burglary of Storage Buildings

Jasper Police Chief Gerald Hall said Tuesday that officers within his department had arrested a suspect in connection with the recent burglary of two different storage buildings here in the Jasper area. However, Hall said that the investigation was expanding and that he believed might soon result in solving other similar crimes elsewhere in the county.

According to Hall, Roger Dale Stratton, Jr., 38, of Jasper was arrested over the weekend and charged with burglaries that occurred at McDonald’s Storage and another behind Ashley Furniture on Highway 190.

Hall said the break in the case came when Stratton allegedly decided to spray paint a security camera in an effort to obscure his identity. However, Hall said before spraying the camera, the device recorded images of a tattoo on Stratton’s arm that was later identified by detective Garrett Foster, who determined that Stratton was the suspect in the case. Hall said upon entering Stratton’s home, officers found not only items stolen in the recent burglaries but also many other items as well.

Stratton, who is charged with Burglary of a Building, is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail, where his bond has been set at $20,000.00.
