A pedestrian is dead after running into the path of a vehicle Monday night in Mansfield, Police Chief Annette Blue said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blue said the accident happened around 8 p.m. on U.S. Highway 171 at Division Street. The victim was either walking or running from the center turn lane on the five-lane highway when he was hit.
The driver of the vehicle was southbound in the outside lane, Blue said.
The accident was unavoidable, the chief said.
