One Person Injured When Car Crashes Front Wall of a Local Home

Police and other emergency crews were dispatched to the 700 block of College Street, across from the Jasper Junior High School, shortly before 8:00 on Thursday evening, when it was reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and crashed though the front wall of a home.

Officers from the Jasper Police Department arrived to find only the rear end of an early model Dodge Van sticking out of the front wall of the home and immediately went to work trying to rescue anyone who might have been trapped in the home or van.

It was believed that the van was headed north on 2nd Street, when it failed the to make the turn left or right at College Street and went straight into the single story structure.

A passenger of the van was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital and the driver of the vehicle was taken to jail after officers reportedly determined that she was intoxicated. However, no names have been released at this time.
