NSU’s Greek Centennial Celebration Back on the Calendar for April 8-9

Plans are continuing for Northwestern State University’s Greek Centennial Celebration that has been postponed twice due to COVID.  The weekend of reunions and other events will take place April 8-9 and will be held in conjunction with Flavor of Louisiana, NSU’s spring seafood extravaganza.

Flavor of Louisiana will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, April 8 and will feature area chefs, caterers and restaurateurs offering samplings of seafood dishes, specialty cocktails, desserts and more.  The event is a celebration of NSU donors, supporters, alumni and students.  During the event, NSU Greek Life will recognize the Greek 100 for 100 recipients.

Greek alumni chapter meetings will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 9 when chapters can use the time to meet and take care of business.  Chapters who need to reserve a space can contact Alan Pasch at pascha@nsula.edu.

The Greek Riverfront Festival will take place from 4-6 p.m. Saturday on Natchitoches’ downtown riverbank.  Guests can enjoy food, beverages and brother/sisterhood, along with entertainment by Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs at the family-friendly event.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Theta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. will present their annual step show competition at the Natchitoches Events Center.  The Golden Explosion will showcase scholarship and the history and traditions of NPHC fraternities and sororities to the community.  Doors will open at 6 p.m. Presale tickets are $15 and will be $25 at the door.  Tickets are available online, through any active brother of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Decade group parties will take place beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at restaurants in downtown Natchitoches. Greek alumni can reunite with brothers, sisters and former classmates with their decade groups or stop by each location to see old friends and make new ones. A list of parties and restaurants will be announced closer to the date.
