No School at Red River Elementary School Due to Flu Outbreak

Red River Elementary School has canceled classes Friday, March 8, due to a flu outbreak.
Red River Parish schools Superintendent Allison Hughes says a large number of student and teacher absences at the Coushatta school are being attributed to the flu or flu-like symptoms.
This closure is for Red River Elementary only. All other Red River Parish schools will be open Friday.
“Custodial and administrative staff will be working Friday to sanitize the building and combat the spread of the virus. If your child has fever, please do not allow them to return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours. Please take this time to sanitize your child’s backpack and lunchboxes.”

If you have questions or need further assistance, please call the Red River Parish School Board office at (318)-932-4081.
Meantime, an early childhood school in Shreveport also will be closed Friday.
The closure at Little Union Learning Center, 1846 Milam St., is due to the flu and flu-like illnesses, director Shneka Lee said.

The learning center, which is operated by Little Union Baptist Church, is expected to resume normal activities Monday, she added.
