Newton Food Share Benefits from New Generator and Food Storage

Newton Food Share is benefitting from the addition of a power generator and also food storage facilities. The volunteer public service entity, located at 509 Main Street in Newton, has a mission of keeping the poor and destitute of their community fed.

Recently, officials with Amerigroup out of Houston donated $50,000.00 to Newton Food Share for the purpose of purchasing a power generator to insure that food was kept at suitable temperatures in the event of a power outage. Newton Food Share then purchased and installed an industrial grade Generac brand generator.

Newton Food Share’s recent investment in an industrial-grade Generac generator highlights the importance of reliable power solutions for community services. When deciding on a diesel generator, organizations like Newton Food Share need to consider factors such as capacity, efficiency, and maintenance requirements to ensure that food remains at safe temperatures during outages. This thoughtful approach not only safeguards the integrity of their food storage but also underscores their commitment to serving the vulnerable population in their community.

Newton Food Share has also benefitted from the donation of a walk-in freezer and also an 18-wheeler trailer size food storage pantry. Those donations came from the Southeast Texas Food Bank in Beaumont.

Officials with Newton Food Share will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the acquirement of the new amenities on Friday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
