The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department in Leesville is investigating the death of a Newton County man, who they believe was murdered by his son.
Officers with the department said the investigation began on Wednesday morning when a woman in the small town of Rosepine, which is between Leesville and DeRidder, reported that she had found a man dead in the floor of her home.
Investigators later identified the deceased as Larry Foster, 57 of Bon Wier. Officers believe he had been stabbed to death.
Based on information obtained in the investigation, officers with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department later found the dead man’s car in DeRidder and learned that his son had been seen driving the vehicle.
A short time later officers located and arrested the son, Jeramiah Foster, 20, at a home on Kulaga Road, which is just north of DeRidder. According to officers, the son was arrested on unrelated charges. However, he was later charged with the murder of his father. Bond on Foster was set at $1 million and at last word, he was still being held at the Vernon Parish Jail in Leesville.
