Cindy Lewing, principal of Zwolle Elementary School, is the 2020-2021 Sabine Parish Principal of the Year.
The school year has been challenging for ZES, which is home to Pre-K through sixth-grade students, dealing with both the COVID-19 pandemic closures in the spring and re-opening in fall. Still, she continued to lead the school and help bring along the construction and completion of a new state of the art elementary wing and administrative offices with the latest security features, which opened to students and staff this school year.
“My greatest accomplishments at ZES are introducing and implementing ‘Leader in Me’ and educated ZES students on how to be leaders in the classroom today and leaders of the community tomorrow,” Lewing said. “ZES’s school performance score (SPS) is currently a 63.8, a 2.4 increase over the previous 2018 SPS. ZES earned an ‘A’ letter grade for student progress in 2018 and 2019.
