The Natchitoches Police Department responded on May 6 to a 911 call from the Motel 6 near the Hwy 1 Bypass in reference to a fight in the lobby.

While officers were en route, another 911 call came in saying someone had been stabbed.

Detectives learned that two males were involved in a physical altercation that led to one of them being stabbed in the torso multiple times, causing serious injuries. The victim was transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center where he was stabilized, then airlifted to LSU Health in Shreveport.

Jimmy Thomas Sr., 45, of Natchitoches, was arrested on one count of attempted second-degree murder, and transported out to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center where he awaits bond.
