As a local man remains missing, Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said Tuesday that activity on his credit card is being tracked, and as of 11:15 Monday night he was in Calhoun, Georgia – nearly 600 miles northeast of Jasper.
Everette Marion Long, 74, was last seen on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 at Community Bank in Jasper where he asked for directions to the Texas Department of Public Safety office. However, he never showed up there.
Long’s family says that he has early stages of dementia and they worry for his safety.
According to his daughter, Christina Leigh Gonzales, activity on his credit card was being monitored on Friday at locations along Interstate 30 between Dallas and Texarkana. Meanwhile, Sheriff Newman noted that Long has been stopping only at Love’s Truck Stops.
Newman said “The frustrating thing is that he’s one step ahead of us. By the time that we find out where his credit card was used, he’s long gone from that location”.
