Just a few hours after KJAS News published a story on Tuesday about a man missing from the Gilgal Community, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant James Payne said the man had been located safe and sound in a Houston nursing home.

Payne and a family member said that 61-year-old Patrick Oneal Jones had not been seen or heard from in about three months, and they were concerned for his wellbeing because he had both cognitive and physical ailments.

Lieutenant Payne expressed thanks to those who came forward to let the sheriff’s department know where the man was at.

The family of a man who has been missing for three months is seeking help from the public to locate him, as is the deputy who investigated the case. He is Patrick Oneal Jones, a 61-year-old Jasper County resident (Gilgal Community) who was last known to be in the company of a woman who family and law enforcement fear may be using him to collect money from his monthly disability checks without making sure that he receives the medical care that he needs.

According to the family and also Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant James Payne, Jones has the mind of a child, and a family member who requested that her name not be used, says that he is a diabetic and has also experienced at least two strokes.

Lieutenant Payne said that Jones was last seen with a woman who has addresses in Kirbyville, Beaumont, and Port Arthur. However, Payne said law enforcement in all three of those cities have gone to her known addresses and have found no sign of her or Mr. Jones.

Patrick Oneal Jones is a black male, he stands 5’06” and he weighs approximately 240 pounds.
