Man Undergoing Treatment After Being Shot at Home on Martin Luther King Drive

A man is undergoing treatment at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital after being shot at a home on Martin Luther King Drive on the northeast side of Jasper on Saturday evening.

Police were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of MLK, shortly after 6:00, when it was reported that the incident had occurred and arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

A motive or other details are not known and at last word officers from both the Jasper Police and Sheriff’s Department were still investigating the incident.

The shooting victim, whose name has not been released, was treated at the scene and then taken by Allegiance EMS Ambulance to the hospital.

It was later reported that officers were looking for a suspect who was only identified as a black male who was driving a gold or tan extended cab pick up truck.

Officers said a deputy from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department was first on the scene and arrived to find the victim suffering from his injuries.
