Emergency crews in north Newton County were busy Monday afternoon dealing with a major accident involving a commercial vehicle. It occurred at about 4:00 on Farm to Market Road 1012 in the Jamestown Community.

We know that two people were injured, one of which was flown from the scene in a medical helicopter while the other was transported by ambulance.

Captain Melanie Smith of the Newton Fire Department said that the one-vehicle crash involved an Aaron’s Rent to Own delivery truck. She said the truck went off of the highway and struck an electrical pole and then trees.

We’re waiting on more information from as the Texas Department of Public Safety.
