Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards to Shut Down Casinos, Bars, Restaurants, and Theaters

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards on Monday announced a drastic measure to stop the spread of the Covid-19 illness commonly known as Coronavirus. Edwards says he will shut down all casinos, bars, and movie theaters in the state, and restaurants will be drive-thru, delivery, or take-out only.

Additionally, Edwards says that the Pelican State is following the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by not allowing events where 50 or more people will be gathered.

According to the information, these changes will be in effect for two weeks from March 17th-31st, but the announcement said that the ending date could be amended – possibly lengthened or shortened – depending upon the results of a re-evaluation in coming days.

As of Monday, the Governor’s Office said that there were 132 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Louisiana and two people have died as a result of the disease.
