Local Police Investigate Early Morning Burglaries

Detectives with the Jasper Police Department are a series of burglaries that occurred overnight at businesses here in the local area.

Lt. Garrett Foster said he and others believe the burglaries occurred around 3:00 on Friday morning at the businesses all located along or near Wheeler Street.

According to Foster, the burglars broke into the El Flamingo Mexican Restaurant located in the 900 block of North Wheeler, the Goodwill Store at 310 South Wheeler, and Skins and Needles Tattoo Shop at 210 North Wheeler. In addition, Foster said the thieves also apparently attempted to break into the Super China Buffet at 315 South Wheeler.

Foster said that in all cases the suspects took various items.

Police are not releasing any additional information, but they have said that they believe the crimes were committed by a pair of young men. However, they are not saying anything about the possible identity of the two.
