The Leesville community is reeling from the loss of a mother and two of her children.
Jacqui Warner and Gabby Warner along with a twin boy, were killed in a wreck on June 15 in Burkeville in Newton County, Texas.
Leesville High School band director Michael Bodine taught Gabby for six years and watched her flourish on the French horn and eventually as one of two drum majors leading the Wampus Cats Friday nights on the football field.
“She was always so vivacious, so energetic,” Bodine said. “She was often the communicator to the kids that I could not be.”
Gabby’s passion was matched by her mother’s support of anything band-related. Bodine said he graduated from LHS with Jacqui in 1992.
She helped run the concession stand and was actually a mainstay at the visitors stand for at least the last four years.
The Wampus Cat Band was a special chapter of Gabby’s life, and Bodine wants to share her spirit with the students who will continue to fill trophy cases with awards for generations to come.
A funeral service for Gabby, Jacqui, and Manuel will be held this Saturday at 11 a.m. at the LHS auditorium. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family by Ricky Ross.
