It appears Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) will have a challenger for his position on Capitol Hill.
U.S. Navy veteran Luke Mixon has announced his intention to take Kennedy’s seat in the 2022 election. Mixon made the announcement Tuesday, criticizing Kennedy for what he calls voting against money for the people of Louisiana.
Mixon appears set to run a serious campaign against the incumbent. He says he’s put together an experienced team made of people who have previously worked with some of Louisiana’s top politicians and leaders. He’s also gained the backing of the Louisiana Democratic Party, whose Chair explained further.
“Sen. John Kennedy has actively blocked efforts to get Hurricane Laura and Ida victims necessary resources to recover from the storms, he has stalled critical funding to upgrade our crumbling infrastructure, and he even voted against funding to support Louisiana families,” said Katie Bernhardt.
