A Hardin County couple and their dog died in an early Tuesday morning house fire. It happened at about 3:30 on Farm to Market Road 2937, also known as Old Spurger Highway, approximately 4 miles north of Silsbee.
Silsbee Fire Chief Robin Jones and Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis said 911 callers reported that the interior of the single story brick house was already fully engulfed.
After firefighters extinguished the flames, they found the bodies of the husband and wife and their dog. The names have not yet been released, but the couple was said to be in their late 50’s to early 60’s.
The fire chief said the blaze is not considered suspicious, but the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, which is standard procedure in a fire that results in a loss of life.
