Gov. To Announce Status of Schools, Says $50 Million in Small Biz Loans Available

Texas Governor Greg Abbott during a Monday press conference said that he will be making an announcement in coming days regarding the status of the current school year, and he also said that $50 million in loans is available to small businesses.

Students in Texas as well as the rest of the nation have been out of school for several weeks as Coronavirus spreads across the globe.

Governor Abbott gave no hint as to what Texas may do regarding education, other than to say that he expects to make an announcement soon.

Meanwhile, Abbott announced a small business initiative, saying that Goldman-Sachs will be offering $50 million in loans to small businesses to help keep them afloat during the crisis.

The Governor also said that he is trying to get Texas up and moving again, with a committee being developed to study how to safely re-open small businesses.
