Four workers were undergoing medical treatment following an oil well incident early Saturday afternoon. It happened at about 1:30 at a site on Farm to Market Road 1738, a few miles north of Highway 63 East, northeast of Jasper.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said that oil and natural gas sprayed onto the workers, and a spark or some sort of ignition source caused it to ignite.
The four were rushed by private vehicles to Jasper Memorial Hospital with law enforcement assisting them through intersections.
Meanwhile, at the well site an employee was able to shut down the leak with no further incident.
The names of the workers or their medical conditions are not known. KJAS News will update this story if more information becomes available.
