Sabine County Judge Daryl Melton on Thursday announced that the county has its first confirmed case of Coronavirus.
Judge Melton said of the person “Their fulltime residency is not our county but out of state. This individual is in quarantine and being monitored by Louisiana as well as by Sabine County Sheriff office. All measures are being taken to protect the public and that of the person and their well being. The Jasper/Newton Health has been notified to help with further investigation. I wish to thank Tom Maddox and the sheriff’s office in taking the lead to protect the health of all”.
Meanwhile, Melton said that as of Thursday morning, Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill had received three test results overnight and all were negative, and there are currently still three other test results awaiting results in laboratories.
Additionally, Judge Melton said that Sabine County’s stay-at-home order is being extended until April 30th.
