The Texas Department of Public Safety said two people were killed after a three vehicle crash in Sabine County late Saturday evening.
According to DPS, troopers responded to a three vehicle fatality crash late last night on SH 21 about six miles east of Milam.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 2012 BMW passenger car was traveling west on SH 21 at a high rate of speed when the BMW struck a trailer being towed by a 2007 Ford pickup as the Ford was turning left onto Cedar Grove Road. After the initial collision the BMW then struck a 2012 Chevrolet pickup head-on. The BMW then caught on fire.
DPS said the driver and passenger in the BMW were pronounced deceased at the scene by a Sabine County Justice of the Peace. The driver is identified as 29-year-old Robert Procell from Hemphill. The passenger is identified as 27-year-old Chelsea Chaney from Jasper.
The driver of the Ford is identified as 37-year-old Trudy Jones from Hemphill. Jones was not reportedly injured during the crash
The driver of the Chevrolet is identified as 40-year-old Tellis Jones from Hemphill. Jones and two female children, ages 13 and 7, were transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport by medical helicopter for treatment.
This crash remains under investigation.
