The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office believes in the recognition of its deputies, their actions, and outstanding efforts in service to the community and their fellow deputies. In keeping with this belief, Sheriff Aaron Mitchell would like to recognize Sergeant Nick Sandel and Deputy Brennan Jones for their efforts that occurred on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
On the above date, patrol units were dispatched to the Many area in response to a 911 call for a medical emergency. Sgt Sandel and Deputy Jones arrived on the scene and found a male subject with a large cut to his left arm. Both Deputies immediately began first aid on the victim. They applied a tourniquet to the injury and followed procedures to restrict the blood flow until medics could arrive.
Sgt Sandel and Deputy Jones quick response, recognition of the severity of the medical emergency, immediate actions, and effective first aid directly resulted in saving the life of the individual. A failure to act or delay to act could have led to a tragic outcome.
Due to their dedication and willingness to preserve life, Sgt Sandel and Deputy Jones did go above and beyond their duties to save this individual. Their actions reflect credit upon themselves and the department they serve.
