Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Campti man in connection with the theft of an automobile in north Natchitoches Parish on Thursday morning and wanted on another vehicle theft according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday morning March 5 at approximately 5:39am, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division responded to a reported auto theft from a business parking lot in the 4500 block of La. Hwy 480 near Campti, La.
Deputies arrived on scene and while speaking with the complainant learned his 2008 White Ford F-150 pickup truck valued over $10,000 had been stolen while he was at work.
Deputies say the complainant and witnesses were able to track the vehicle to a location where it was stopped on Bright Star Church Road.
The complainant attempted to approach a male entering the stolen truck but when doing so the suspect identified as Jontavious Marshall pointed a handgun at him.
The suspect then fled the area in the stolen Ford F-150 armed with Smith & Wesson, and Diamondback 9mm handguns.
NATCOM 911 Center issued an APB (All Points Bulletin) Message to local and surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Shortly after 10:00am, the stolen vehicle was spotted in the Scarborough Street area of Natchitoches.
Natchitoches Police assisting deputies responded to the area.
When they attempted to stop the vehicle, Marshall ditched the vehicle on Culbertson Lane fleeing on foot discarding a handgun on ground.
Marshall was captured by NPD Officers and transported to NPD Headquarters where he was charged with several offenses and then released to NPSO.
Deputies then transported Marshall to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
Detectives learned during the booking process Marshall stole the vehicle.
Detectives also had an outstanding warrant on Marshall for Felony Theft in connection with the Theft of a 1996 Honda passenger car in the City of Natchitoches during late February.
Marshall had been released on bond from the Natchitoches Detention Center on February 14, 2020 in connection with another vehicle theft.
Jontavious Rayshawn Marshall, 18, of the 1100 block of US71/84, Campti, La. was booked into the Natchitoches Detention Center charged with the new charges of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Unauthorized Use of a Moveable, Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Failure to Report an Accident and other charges through Natchitoches PD.
Deputies say the Diamondback 9mm and dog tracking collars that were in the Ford F-150 are still missing and have not been recovered.
