Buna Pharmacy Burglary Suspects Arrested in Hardin County

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department says that three people who are suspects in an early Wednesday morning burglary at a Buna pharmacy were stopped and arrested a short time later in Hardin County.

A press release stated that the crime occurred at about 1:00 at Buna Family Pharmacy on State Highway 62, and deputies were able to see images of the suspects on video from security cameras.

Meanwhile, Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins says that a Silsbee police officer stopped the trio for a traffic violation shortly after the burglary, unaware that they were suspects in the crime. Sullins said a Jasper County deputy heard the Silsbee officer’s radio traffic and realized that the vehicle and the people in it matched the pharmacy burglary suspects. However, the Silsbee officer had already sent them on their way before the Jasper County deputy could make contact with them.

Sullins said the Silsbee officer then began trying to catch up with the suspects while Lumberton officers were headed that way to assist, and they caught the vehicle on Highway 96 between the two towns.

The three, only described as one Beaumont resident and two Houston residents, were arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released pending formal charges at arraignment.
