A Bowie County, Texas man is killed in a house fire overnight in the Liberty-Eylau community.
It happened around midnight in the 7000 block of West 7th Street.
Bowie County Deputy Fire Marshal Scottie Taylor says the blaze was started by an old refrigerator in the back hallway.
Joe Nathan Thompson Junior, 61, died at the scene.
Authorities believe he was the only person home at the time of the fire.
Fire officials do not believe the blaze was suspicious.
A K-9 officer with State Fire Marshal’s Office was used to determine if there were any accelerants used in the fire.
When Liberty Eylau Volunteer Firefighters arrived, they immediately searched the home.
