BCPD Believes Road Rage a Factor in Fatal Shooting in WK Bossier Parking Lot; 23-Year-Old Arrested

The Bossier City Police Department has named the man who allegedly fatally shot and killed a 65-year-old woman.

Ramsey Akes, 23, is charged with first-degree murder. He was booked and is being held on a $275,000 bond.

There was some type of altercation involving the two and that encounter led the man to shoot the woman several times, authorities say. Police believe road rage may be a factor in this incident.

The shooting happened a little after 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 in a parking lot on the Willis-Knighton Bossier campus.

An off-duty Bossier City police officer was working at the hospital at the time. Another officer was on routine patrol in the parking lot when the altercation occurred.

The two law officers applied a tourniquet and rendered aid to the wounded woman until she was taken to Ochsner LSU Health. The woman was pronounced dead at the Shreveport hospital.

It was about 9 p.m. when KSLA News 12′s Chandler Watkins was informed that she had died.

Investigators still are in the early stages of sorting out how the shooting happened and what happened in the moments leading up to the deadly encounter.

Detectives on the scene were interviewing witnesses. And the “… male who was taken into custody” was being interviewed at the police station, police Lt. Bart Cavanaugh said.

Officials at Willis-Knighton say the incident did not involve the hospital or any of its personnel.
