Jasper County deputies are investigating an attempted theft of an ATM machine in Evadale. Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said it happened either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning at Eastex Federal Credit Union, located on Farm to Market Road 105.
Duncan said the thief – or thieves – tried, but failed to steal the ATM or to gain access to the cash inside of it.
Several ATM burglaries or thefts have occurred in recent years in this area, most notably at Sabine State Bank in Burkeville and at First National Bank in Woodville.
