For the second time in less than a week a body has been found in a wooded area in DeSoto Parish.
The latest discovery was around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when a man driving down Asseff Road west of Interstate 49 saw something that caused him to stop and take a closer look. He saw a man’s body about 20 feet off the road, Sheriff Jayson Richardson said.
The man who found it hunts in the area, which is heavily wooded and not regularly traveled.
The dead man was a white male. Richardson said the man’s body appears to have been there a week or two.
Investigators have not determined how he died.
“We don’t know the identity,” Richardson said.
The case is being investigated as a homicide.
The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (318) 872-3956.
On Saturday, oilfield workers found the burned body of Tony Holmes, 25, of Shreveport in a wooded area next to a road leading to a gas well location off White Springs Road in Frierson. Holmes was reported missing Feb. 21 by his family.
