According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, the body of Alana Vanol-Zuccaro was found on April 3, around 6:45 p.m.
Zuccaro was found in a wooded area in Washington, Louisiana. She was reported missing from Pineville a few weeks ago. The Pineville Police Department said she was last seen around March 20.
PPD received information Wednesday night from St. Landry Parish around 9 p.m. that the body was found in Washington.
“It would actually be a determination of where Ms. Zuccaro died at or where the physical death took place,” said Deputy Chief Darrell Basco, PPD. “We would have to wait..the preliminary says that we are going to have to wait for the coroner’s office and St. Landry Parish to make a determination and through interviews to see exactly where the crime did occur regarding her death.”
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, West Baton Rouge Sheriff and the Point Coupee Sheriff’s Office aided in finding her body.
According to Crime Stoppers, Zuccaro and her boyfriend, Robert McPhearson, were seen leaving a casino on March 20, appearing to be in an argument. Louisiana State Police located her Toyota Tacoma later that day on Hwy 103 with no one around. On March 22, Zucarro’s purse, jacket, and shoes were located near a bayou.
McPhearson was arrested on March 27 by the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on an unrelated incident. He admitted he was the last to see Zuccaro, but did not provide any further information.
McPhearson later told police on April 3 where Zuccaro’s body was located and the circumstances surrounding her death.
Zuccaro’s funeral is set for April 11 at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Pineville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral itself will begin at 1:00 p.m.
